Chianina meat takes its name from the Valdichiana (Territory between the provinces of Siena and Arezzo) and is an animal breed of Tuscany and Umbria, which has very ancient origins (since the Etruscans).
The meat is produced by bovines, male and female, pure Chianina breed, aged between 22 and 24 months (they are the largest bovines in the world and take the name of "White Giant of Valdichiana"). The livestock must have the identification mark provided for by current regulations and the meat must be released for consumption with the special mark to guarantee the origin and identification of the product.
The Chianina beef is protected the denomination "IGP" (Protected Geographical Indication). Chianina meat is an extremely lean meat and much richer in iron than the white meat.
